Account & privacy

Plain language, no fine print.

We treat what you share the way we'd want ours treated. Here's exactly what happens to your data.

Your entries belong to you

Journal entries and session transcripts are stored encrypted, tied to your account only. You can export or permanently delete them at any time.

We don't train on your reflections

Your private content is not used to train foundational models. Aggregate, de-identified metrics may be used to improve the product — you can opt out.

No dark patterns

‘Delete account’ and ‘Export everything’ live one tap from the settings screen. No hoops, no retention emails.

We name our limits

Shrinks is not a therapist, not a diagnosis tool, and not for emergencies. We route toward human contact and crisis resources whenever your language suggests risk.

What we store

  • Journal entries you write
  • Reflection session transcripts
  • Mood tags and pins you create
  • Account email (for login only)

What we don't

  • Precise location
  • Contacts, calendar, or device data
  • Your entries used to train external AI models
  • Anything you delete — after 30 days, it's gone

Your controls

Export everything

Download a PDF or JSON of every entry, tag, and session summary.

Delete an entry, a session, or your account

One tap. Permanent after 30 days. No emails asking you to reconsider.

Consent to analytics

Off by default. Turn on de-identified analytics if you want to help improve Shrinks.

If you're in crisis

Shrinks is a reflection tool, not an emergency service. Please contact 988 (US), 111 (UK), or your local emergency line. You can also visit findahelpline.com for a hotline in your country.
